“Taco Bell” Fire Sauce Copycat #1

“I can’t seem to make enough of this sauce–and I triple the recipe every time. My family uses it on eggs, hash browns, taco’s and burritos (of course). So, if you like this type of thing, this is the sauce for you!”

Ingredients
  1. 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  2. 3 cups water
  3. 3 tablespoons vinegar
  4. 3 tablespoons finely minced canned jalapeno slices
  5. 1 tablespoon chili powder (Mexican, if you have it)
  6. 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
  7. 2 teaspoons salt
  8. 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  9. 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  10. 1 teaspoon sugar
  11. 1⁄4 teaspoon onion powder
  12. 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
  1. Combine the tomato paste and water in a saucepan.
  2. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients to the tomato mixture.
  4. Heat over medium/high heat until it begins to boil.
  5. Continue to cook, stirring often, for 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. When sauce has cooled, pour into a glass airtight container and refrigerate.
  8. Stores well in the refrigerator.
Notes
  1. There are many “Copy Cat” recipes out there for Taco Bell’s Fire Sauce. I plan on posting as many of them as possible!
